Mitos-Versatile Seating that Actively Supports and Promotes Intuitive Movement.
“Stay still, sit up straight and stop fidgeting” was what I always heard from my mom growing up while eating at the dinner table. Years later I am still fidgeting, although this time it is not at the dinner table but in my office chair. I just can’t seem to get comfortable. Why is it so hard to find seating that works with you, not against you.
It is apparent that we are going to move, recline, straighten and adjust during the day multiple times. Movement promotes good health. However, excessive fidgeting is non productive and it can be frustrating to the user when they adjust their chair and it is still not in sync with their body. Why can’t there be a chair that intuitively supports synchronized movement without all the fuss.
Well this year I was introduced to a new product by Kimball Office/ Interstuhl called Mitos.
“A good chair not only allows you to move, it actually actively supports you and promotes your movements and sitting position” Kimball Office
Mitos has what is called a transmotion mechanism that is different from other mechanisms currently on the market. The transmotion mechanism offers synchronized recline motion with a wider range of movement for healthy sitting. It moves with you intuitively. It follows your lead. The seat and the backrest motion are in exact ratio for optimal comfort. The movement is incredibly smooth and requires minimal to no effort on the part of the user.
Mitos also has a wide breadth of line including high, mid swivel chairs as well as side chair options in all styles.
One of the side chair options can actually be used as a swivel side chair, a laptop chair with foot rest or a lectern.
This makes the Mitos line of furniture very versatile not only for seated movement but for collaborative movement and on the go areas. This can only boost productivity. Who couldn’t use that in this economy.
Mitos seating offers a variety of options as well. You can choose from mesh backs, leather and fabric options. There is an armrest available on all swivel models that has the capability to pivot 180 degrees to support your upper arm to help relieve shoulder and neck tension. For additional comfort you can add a leather armrest cap. Mitos also offers an optional headrest. The headrest is counter-synchronized moving forward as you lean back to support your neck and back.
Here are some additional options and features that make Mitos seating an even better solution.
- All chairs are available in armless models.
- Frame and base available in black, brilliant silver or polished silver
- Chrome finish available on the four-leg and cantilever side chair models
- Relax button reduces backrest spring strength to ease the effort required for recline.
- Adjustable lumbar support with air pressure technology
- Three different heights available for the task seating. High with headrest, high back, mid back
- Three side chair companions- swivel, four post and cantilever options
- Model K902M transforms from side chair, to lap top table with footrest or lectern.
- Model K902M supports up to 10lbs in the lap top and lectern position.
- Mitos is also a sustainable product and may contribute to LEED points.
