It is really quite an ingenious product so I had to share.

The company started in 2009, is called Renu-Space based out of St. Paul, Minnesota. This furniture product is perfect for used office furniture brokers, dealers, commercial interior designers, move/add companies and furniture specialists and of course, any company wanting or needing to update their existing furniture on a tight budget.

Renu-Space is a new process for reupholstering your existing workstation panels.They make old work stations and panels look brand new.

How do they do it?

By using a 3M proprietary fastener developed specifically for Renu-Space, the thin tiles are quickly and easily adhered to existing panels by installers or on-site Facilities personnel.

1.The process allows companies to add a segmented panel look, signage, logos, etc., with updated color and dimension to any workstation or panel fabric hallway.

Renu-Space™ is a 1/8” x 16-20pcf molded fiberglass tack board upholstered in FR701 office furniture panel fabrics. The product is fastened using construction adhesive or a proprietary fastener developed by 3M for Renu-Space.

Sizes will be in incremental widths listed above which correspond to major manufacturer’s widths of office furniture panel systems. Actual field verified dimensions may be slightly different based on varying thicknesses of the metal frame of a particular office furniture system. Heights will never be less than 14” when achieving a stacked/ segmented panel look.

Standard fabrics are Guilford of Maine – Panel Series 100% recycled polyester. All standard color-ways of each pattern are standards.

Since materials are reused this dramatically minimizes the manufacturing process as well as the amount of waste diverted to the landfill.

If the product being installed is manufactured within 500 mile radius of the installation you can earn 1 LEED point.  Since the product has fewer miles to travel, there are fewer emissions.

HMU uses a powder coat paint line that meets the requirements for Low VOC paint.

Any HMU products needing a wet paint application use a water-based paint.

• 6.1 Controllability of Systems: Lighting

Tasklighting has the ability to be adjustable to suit individual needs. Lighting can be repositioned or turned off when not needed, thus saving energy.

Also for an upcharge, a sustainable design particle board (SDP), is available for use in work surfaces. There is no added urea formaldehyde and the boards are made of 100% recycled wood fiber or 100% post consumer recycled waste.
